2009 Oktoberfest - First Time Visit

My husband is celebrating his 50th birthday during the time of the Oktoberfest this year. I am thinking of taking him for his birthday for 2 or 3 nights, we have never been before.

Do we travel as a couple only or can we take our teenage sons?

We don't have a hotel, flights or beer tent tickets booked.

I don't know where to go to get all these things sorted or where to start.

Can you help.

Is it a memorable time?

Is Munich an interesting place to visit, apart from the beer fest?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jill,

Munich has many things to offer, not only the Oktoberfest. You can check here for tourist attractions.

As for taking your teenage sons, off course you can take them, I'm sure they'll love it. Maybe even more than you like :-)

Legal age for drinking beer in Germany is 16, if they are younger, they still can be inside the beer tents with you, but no alcohol for them.

You can book hotels directly via the internet. Check out the prices and availability here: Munich Hotels.

Same applies for flights. Only problem will be the tickets for one of the beer tents, because reservations are made for tables of 10 and usually before January for the current year.
