Festival first timers...
Hiya.
There will be about a dozen of us coming over for next years festival, and none of us have been before.
It's for a friends 40th and we wondered, do we have to book a tent reservation and stay there all night or can we drift from tent to tent as we please?
If we do have to reserve one, any tips or advice you could give us please?
While we're in Munich some of us would like to visit Dachau Concentration camp too. Is it far from the festival site and easy to get too from the centre of Munich?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Mark,
These are quite a few questions :-)
1) Do you have to make a reservation?
If you're 10 persons or more, it's definitely advised to make a reservation. Oktoberfest reservations can only be made per table, which means for multiples of 10 persons.
Check out the tents here:

2) Can you move around from one tent to the next?
Actually, yes. But only as long as the tents are open :-( Usually they get closed some time in the evening, because of congestion. So, once you have a your table, you shouldn't leave it anymore.
3) Tips and Advice?
The one tip I can give you is to book your hotel early! Prices go up like a rocket for hotel rooms in Munich during Oktoberfest and availability is scarce. If you book already now, you're on the safe side:

4) Trip to Dachau Concentration Camp?
It takes roughly one hour to reach the memorial site from the center of Munich.
